is the Lord waiting on you?
God said to Gideon, "You have too large an army with you,
I can't turn Midian over to them like this-
they'll take all the credit, saying 'I did it myself,'
and forget about me."
Judges 7:2
I've taken eight trips to East Africa.
The Continent stole my heart.
I love everything about it...but not at first, I was afraid, it was all so different. That passed very quickly.
One of my favorite things to do, besides sitting under shade trees drinking a warm coke with folks, is walking the villages and seeing the amazing toys the kids create.
I've bought them from kids so that I could bring them home. Iv'e got cars made from little plastic shot bottles, soccer balls from plastic bags and bailing twine, and a truck from plastic bottles, wire, sticks, and flip-flops.
These kids are brilliant with what they can create.
I believe they have an awful lot to teach the church....
We (mostly), the North American Church, thinks it needs lots of money and lots of programs and lots of.... fill in the blank.
God only needs two things;
1. Himself
2. a committed person
That's all.
Sometimes, God will purposely whittle things down to show His glory, like He did with Gideon. I wonder if that is not what God is up to now.
In our own little part of The Great Rescue Plan here in Hartford, we went at it with the Gideon approach. We trusted that God is as powerful as He had shown himself to be, and trusted.
Maybe today, you are "waiting on the Lord".....
have you asked to see if He is not waiting on you?
