no us or them just we

We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first.
                                   1 John 4:9 Message translation

I used to sit in churches and look around and think "is this what Heaven will look like?'

So often we try to force "multicultural" churches. I applaud the effort, but there is a self-selective component to most humans so what happens is most often a gathered body is a collection of groups.

We followed a lead and left the building... and God asked me to invite everyone to the table...

For a Jew or a God-fearer, being invited to a meal was a huge deal. It meant you and I were equals...

We try and do this at family gatherings but if we are honest there is a tension in the air as thick as the gravy. The key is to have hearts that not just tolerate the person at the table with you, but to have a heart that has been transformed

We invite to our table out of love...because we were invited by God to His table first.

So we show up and feast.
On God, and each other.
and it is a beautiful sight to behold.

  1. I have never experienced this type of agape love and respect for each other that is expressed during a service at The Street Church. The majority of all those that gather are not there because of legalism, it’s to cold outside for that. When J asked for prayer because he was starting Chemo, everyone stopped what they were doing to pray for him. We all loved on him. No one claiming to be better than another due to a title. Titles don’t matter here... Shalom
