teach your children well...
Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts.
Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children.
Talk
about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street;
talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall
into bed at night.
Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder;
inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.
Deuteronomy 6:7
"Do you guys do Lent?"
I get asked this a lot.
"Yes, yes we do"
Our kids know The Great Rescue Plan of God. We talk about it a lot.
We teach it to them in the manner God told his children. We use symbols, and seasonal rhythms to express the character of God because that is why He made them.
In Lent, we take time to get off the hamster wheel of business that is driving too many kids into depression and anxiety, and help our children think deeply on God.
We give up time and help them spend extra time in prayer.
We take on an extra act of service as a family. We shift our daily devotions and prayer at the breakfast table to study what God really did for us.
This year we are using a free devotional from the author of the Jesus Story Telling Bible. It's a great download! You can find the link here She had us make a paper countdown to Easter Chain, and each day we rip one off and read the Bible Story it asks us too.
It begins in The Garden and ends with the empty tomb...where Mary thinks the One who made the Garden is a Gardener!
Teach your children to come and see.
Join us on this journey.
