being a faithful presence...

“A new command I give you:
Love one another.
As I have loved you,
so you must love one another.

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
                                    John 13:34-35

Beloveds,
How do we love in this climate, when our priamary mode with the Street Church is simply showing up...

I was in contact with a man of peace today who oversees operations at the House of Bread. I am so grateful for this man! I've been brought up to speed on the state plans, the plans for the shelters, the plans for food centers...

It was honetly calming for me, learning and being reminded that there are many who are caring for our friends. There are plans for how to isolate the sick, clean the shelters, provide services via phone.

As of today, I will still plane on going downtown with a coupe of people and some sandwiches. We cannot draw a crowd. If the plan changes five minutes before, fine. We will shift.

What is really needed is love and hope.

So, here's my plan...

I'll be leaving messages of hope on the sidewalks and verses of love....

We've done this every Saturday.

Folks have read them all week....

They are a love letter from God to whomever passes by...through us.

I remember many empty mailbox days in college....but when there was a note. Wow.

Huh, as I type, I'm encouraged to do that on my sidewalk at home too.

join me...let's spread Hope.

We have the best message
